Wilma Forces Officials to Postpone Sebring Sport Pilot Expo
Event Rescheduled for January 12-15, 2006
October 21, 2005 - Deciding it is better to be safe than sorry, the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo Advisory Board has postponed next week's event at Sebring, Florida, because of the approaching Hurricane Wilma. The event, scheduled for October 27-30 at the Sebring Regional Airport, will be held instead January 12-15 at the same location. The Board's official announcement released Friday morning, October 21, said the new dates were chosen in consideration of other planned aviation events, including two EAA Sport Pilot Tour stops (McKinney, Texas, November 12, and Camarillo, California, December 3), as well as the approaching holiday season. Expo Board Chairman Bob Wood said Thursday that this was the prudent thing to do. "We don't want to face a situation where the hurricane might render our locality without power and communication services and put exhibitors and visitors in a bad situation," he said. All manufacturers registered for the Expo will be contacted.
