Hello All,
Had a situation I thought I would share with everyone even though it makes me feel foolish. Hopefully someone will learn from my mistake. I decided to go up for an early morning flight on Memorial Day. I left my PPC in a barn after my Sunday evening flight since I would be returning the next morning. A through pre-flight revealed no problems. The engine was warmed and I got ready. I use an MP3 player with ear buds to dampen the noise. I put on my helmet and GPS ( which is on a leg strap ). The engine was warm and all systems were go. I had planned on flying over a friends house 30 minutes away. Takeoff was uneventful and the flight was great. I took a camcorder up for the first time. Almost to my friends house, I sensed something didn't feel right. I reach down to check my seatbelt that I now don't remember hooking and low and behold, it is not there. I get this very bad feeling. I am at 1000 feet and the only thing holding me in is the weight of my butt. I now become very stiff and start reaching for the seatbelt which I am able to finally get hooked. Please do a seatbelt check before take-off. I hope that is a mistake that I never make again. It was not a very good feeling.
