I went down to the World Microlight Championships in Long Marston here in the UK yesterday for the closing cermonies. There were over 100 trikes there, 70 PPG's and 4 PPC's. The PPC's were part of the Ukraine team. I am unsure of the manufacturer it was nothing I had ever heard of. They were using 582's and all had Chirons. I took pics that I'll post once I get the film back. The closing cermonies were pretty impressive. There were 30 some countries represented. I also hooked up with the U.S. team. Had an opportunity to meet the team leader. Zipity there was a guy there from Illinois flying a trike. I also met a guy named Keith Nicely who flew a "Pterodactyl" across the U.S. in 1979. All in all it was great experience and I"m glad I got to go.

That would be neat to have all those countries competing all together.
Hope to see some pics soon.

PS I resized that one you had (didn't know if you had it done already or not)

PSS Hey they had this cute lil plane from Germany....looked cool. Rotax 912s and cost about 70K euros (whatever that converts to)

I noticed 135boomer mentioned a guy who flew across the country in a Pterdactyl. Here's a picture of one owned by a fellow I used to fly with. This is the "modern" version. The earlier model was weight-shift controlled.

jwards the guy I met was Jack McCormick the actual designer of the Pterodyctl. I also met Keith Nicely. Him and Jack flew them things from Cali to Oshkosh in 79 which really sparked the interest on ultralights in the aviation world.

I have to take my hat off to Mr. McCormick and Mr. Nicely. I did a little 500 miler and it wore me out. :) I can only dream of a trip like they took. (I was flying a Weedhopper....btw)

Looks like they may have sparked interest in BSR chutes too with those!! (I know I'd want one!)

Jim never used a BRS on his 'dactyl. I had a Second Chanz system (on my 'hopper) but it was their new "air" system (compressed nitrogen) and it wasn't successful. The seals would fail over time and it would lose it's charge. I had it redone twice but it didn't last more than a few months either time. If I were going to by now I would go with BRS and their tried and true "shotgun" system. Of course, flying a PPC reduces the need for such a system.
