Aircraft was a Buckeye Breeze, temperature 90 degrees, field short, unimproved pasture land & poor planning. Pilot received broken back, passenger minor bruises. Yes, the FAA did investigate and was at the plane on Saturday.

There should be a lesson here. Till we get a complete report it's conjecture, but crashing into the trees looks like lack of situational awareness to me.

Probable lesson: Know field conditions, atmospheric conditions, gross loading and how your aircraft performs under current conditions or don't go.

Here are several short news articles reporting the 'hang glider' crash. It seems that no one knows what to call it, so it's become a 'hang glider' in all the reports. :)

It always amazes me how poor journalism is. One person doesn't check their facts, the editor doesn't check the journalist, and then everyone parrots the original article.

I would venture to say that most people know what a hang glider is, and that it doesn't have a big huge parachute above it.
