I am now able to say I have my CFI. After a year of hard work the practical was not as bad I thought it was going to be. Peter Wallace is great at making you relax. Thanks to Michael Harwood I was over prepared. The biggest obstacle I had was a training craft with dual controls. My 582 DM had the LX package so drilling on it was not an option. I miss that machine. I received my S-LSA Airwolf at Sun an Fun and have only 30 minutes in the front seat. 6 hours flying from the back as PIC. I will start with my first student next week. If my daughter will let use my Airwolf that is, I made the mistake of ordering it in her favorite color.

I operate from the Moultrie municipal airport near Moultrie, Ga. I also will offer traveling instruction. I will use my craft or yours if it is N numbered and has dual controls.

I encourage everyone who may be thinking they would like be a CFI some day to pursue it. If the thought of becoming an instructor has crossed your mind, then you are likely a good candidate to teach. If you want to become a CFI because it is not easy but is hard you may be good candidate.

Congratulations Jim! I was going to take my SP with Peter. He is a super guy. He had just lost the lease on his dual controlled Infinity before we could hook up and mine was'nt N# at the time. Doe's he still not have a machine? Why could'nt you use the Airwolf and how do you like it?

My plan is to put on some hours this year and start looking at getting my CFI at the end of the year or next spring. The weather here so far has not been very cooperative. Any tips or suggestions for study materials?

Hi Tim
Thank You

Peter has a Condor with dual controls now. I used the Wolf for the test,(I am only 99 miles from him) what held me up was not having it when I started my CFI training. I had never flown from the back seat. The Airwolf is a great machine. I orderd mine with full dual controls. It has rear stearing and a cut off switch in the rear.(set up like MorrisYoder's) Once you get use to flying from the back it is easy.

Tips and suggestions for study materials. I started with the King course and then ASA. Studied it all and had a good Instructor. I thought it would take a few months. Give your self a year.

I like the materials from ASA. Morris did my first endorsement for SP. The rear foot steering makes it nice.

Jim,
CONGRATULATIONS! I know it was a lot of hard work, frustrating at times, and you got thru it all. Glad you made it.
Welcome to the ranks of CFI.

Jim, I was just checking out your website. Excellent job! Very nice site. Did you set that up yourself? Awesome Powrachute video too.

The rear steering on my airwolf is about worthless. I am a strong guy and I can barely move the pedals.

You might talk it over with Phil Dietro. I modified his PWC rear steering and he seems pleased with it.

The Buckeye one didn't work well either and I had to rework it.

In any case they are a bit hard to handle from the rear seat, but it should at least be usable.

Well Hi to you too Darrell.
When is your brother in law going to purchase a single seat?. He rejoined the Club and says he is looking for a nice single seat. You need to put a 503 on the DF to get that big fella up, (or else I'll have to sell him a Voyager).

Thanks for the plug to the Eagle's Nest PPC Club, when the fella was looking for an CFI in SE Mi. I finally got brave and requested an ID to the Forums.
