What are CFIs in your area charging? I am the only one anywhere close. I charge $50 per hour. Only a few have complained. I do BFRs at a flat rate of $100. This is in Minnesota. I don't do a lot of instruction. It is just a side hobby.

CFIs for airplanes here charge $35/hr with a BFR running about $70-$100 or so depending on how long it takes. The minimum is 2 hours, but the CFI decides when you are "done". Of course if you have to rent an aircraft that is added. Since there are no CFI-PPCs nearby I have had to do my BFR in an airplane or travel about 100 miles one way for reasonable PPC CFI pricing hauling my PPC unless I want to rent one. I have decided to do it in an airplane to allow me more flying flexibility although the airplane is costing me $135/hr, I'm having fun.

PPCs are a niche market with little real local competition in most locations so pricing is whatever you can get. There are 4 or 5 FBOs within 50 miles or less of my home so prices for GA CFIs are quite competitive here.

Todd, That is probably the cheapest CFI rate that I have seen for PPCs. I think in a few years if and when we get some more CFIs the prices will come down. It is not uncommon for flight time to be billed at just over a hundred dollars per hour.

My instructor charged $60/hr in my plane or $120 / hr if I had used his. There was another instructor in Oklahoma that was about half that.

When I asked about the BFR, he said that's just 2 hrs of instruction, so $120.
