Bomb Drop --
The “Bomb” may be a Strand of Mardi Gras Beads. The drop can be made from any altitude. The distance is measured from where the “Bomb” comes to rest - to the center of the target X.
Torpedo Run --
The “Torpedo” is a tennis ball that the pilot drops from low altitude and attempts to roll the ball into a target X inside of a 3 sided box. The closest to the center of the X wins. Aircraft wheels
cannot touch the ground.
Repeat Pylon --
Take off and fly the pattern. Cross the timing line located on the Runway, drop a Strand of Beads, and proceed around a specified course. Cross the timing line the second time, drop a second Strand of Beads, thus completing the first LAP…… Continue on for a second lap of the same course. Cross the timing line the third time and drop a Tennis Ball (Torpedo Run) to complete the second lap.
Competition Procedure – Pilot launches from Lucien field, makes one lap of the pattern to gain altitude (800’ – 1,200’), proceeds EAST toward Red River, approaches the target located near Hwy. 1 & Flournoy Lucas Rd., bomb drop begins Course to the Water Tank, one full lap of course, second bomb drop begins the second lap of the course, the torpedo run completes the competition. You are free to fun fly or return to the airport, the course is approximately 20 minutes long.
Paint Ball Combat Target Run – A paint ball gun will be attached to the aircraft and the pilot will attempt to shoot a target on the runway. No air-to-air combat allowed. We may be able to provide guns but, you must provide paintballs and CO2. If you have a gun, bring it.

Hey Joe!
Hope to see ya there. If you're worried about this being a big complicated flyin. Don't! This would be the PERFECT flyin for a newbie. You'll love it.
Pat puts on a very good and SAFE show. One little caveat - this might be one of those flyins where you won't get a chance to fly. The weather in Louisiana is very unpredictable this time of year. Last year, we got to fly one day. But it's the ONE flyin where you're guaranteed to have a great time.
IT'S MARDI GRAS in Louisiana. There's a parade on Saturday. Weather permitting, we'll have a lot of fun flying and a good competition. But it won't matter if we fly or not.
Even if you're a newbie, get in this competition. Those of us who are avid competitors (and there will be a few of us who are) are going to this one to just have fun. I'm probably going to try my usual strategy of trying to finish last so I can get the booby prize. :-)
If you make it to Louisiana for the flyin, make it 2 1/2 hours farther after the flyin over to the Dallas, TX area. Judy and I have two guest rooms available at the house. We'll show you and your family around Dallas and we can get some good flying in.
Walt...
