I am currently a licensed private pilot in single engine, land. Does this rating offer any advantages to carrying passengers and/or training requirements in a PPC?

Thanks,

Kilowatt

I could be wrong on this but I am almost positive that it has nothing to do with Part 103 ultralight. You would have to do all the training and get the paperwork for stictly ultralights.

I think you're correct. I am hoping that I may not have to take the written exam in training since I've passed the pp written already. I was thinking that I may only need to take the FOI written.

I obviously am interested in buying a two place.

I asked our local BFI and he was uncertain if the my private pilot written exam would qualify.

i sold a powerchute to the head IP of american airlines a few years back. sadly, his 160,000 hrs in the air and all his ratings had no relevance to flying a powerchute.

we started him out at ground zero just as we do all the rest of the students.

currently, a pp liscense is wasted when it comes to legally flying a powerchute. i wish it weren't so, but it is.

wish you nothing but the best,

don

Things would probably progress more easily by pursuing the normal procedures of proper training. What's another test anyway, lol.

Thanks for the resposes, guys. Happy flying and I wish you all a peaceful Easter.

Aaron

What about a Certified Flight Instructor? One of the written tests is the Fundamentals of Instruction test. Any other advantages?

I'm not sure about the CFI rating, Jim, but my PPSEL rating did allow me to apply for the practical test (BFI for PPC under the exemption granted to ASC) with a few less hours. I remember that I e-mailed Jim and he replied with the allowable hours based on my GA rating.

I'll be darned if I can find the E-mail describing the credited hours, though. If you e-mail ASC, I'm certain that they will communicate with you in a timely manner.

It will be my guess that you will not be required to take the FOI exam again if you have completed the test already.

It really surprised me that my GA rating had very little impact on my qualifying for the BFI under the exemption. I'm afraid that it's going to be a similar scenerio with regard to my BFI rating having very little to do with my qualifying for the Sport Pilot, PPC. MY PPSEL rating WILL help me on earning the SP rating PPC, rectangular wing.

Whew!
